On a circuit Lewis knows well the team were impressed that straight out of the box he achieved a very creditable 3rd in class beating a number of older and more experienced riders.

Race 1
Lewis got of to a fantastic start and was right up the front of the field for nearly half a lap then he out braked himself and had to run straight on at Edwina’s putting him way down the order amongst the slower riders finally managing to come from the back and finish a creditable 5th
Race 2
Oh dear Lewis got a terrible start and spent the whole race overtaking slower riders and once again he finished in 5th place
Race 3
Lewis got a good start spending the whole race in a 5 way dice for 2nd up to the hairpin on the last lap, then whilst in 2nd he had what can only be described as a huge moment almost loosing the bike somehow he managed to stay onboard the BCL Suzuki bringing it home in 4th place
Race 4
Another terrible start for Lewis seeing him last into the first corner ,this however was like a red rag to a bull and he charged through the slower riders finishing in a brilliant and well deserved 4th place

Another good meeting for Lewis and the BCL Suzuki unfortunately Lewis`s mentor WSBK Supersport rider Sam Lowes couldn’t attend but he did send Lewis his regards and wished him luck for the weekend. Lewis`s consistent scoring sees him currently lying 4th overall out of 20 riders in the championship with the next round at Oulton Park in Cheshire, this is another circuit that Lewis hasn’t ridden before but one he looks forward too.

This is the first time Lewis has ridden at the famous Leicestershire circuit, unfortunately their was no practice and Lewis went straight into qualifying “blind” so to speak and this soon materialised in a poor 36th out of 39 starters close to 16 seconds of the pace and on the 2nd to last row

Race 1
Lewis got of to a terrible start and spent the race overtaking slower riders managing to finish 30th out of 39 and 11th in class.

Race 2
Lewis got a good start but was still having to contend with slower riders who knew the circuit better than he did but credit where credit is due he managed to finish 25th overall and 9th in class

Race 3
Another good start saw Lewis up in mid field around the 20th position tangled up in a 5 way battle, then on the last lap he failed to come round, he had fallen at the Melbourne Loop Hairpin running into the back of a slower rider whilst fighting for 4th in class.

Overall
As this was a circuit that Lewis had never ridden before his efforts during the weekend deserve credit as he never gave up right up to the last lap of the last race knocking a massive 13 seconds of his qualifying time.

The next round is at Mallory Park a circuit Lewis knows well having tested their with the Pakalgar Honda Team with mentor Sam Lowes in 2011,the team are hoping that Sam will come along to support Lewis and give him a few more tips

THANKYOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Friday free practice
Even though Lewis hadn’t ridden the BCL Suzuki in anger since October 2011 it was clear that the work the team had put into the bike over the closed season had paid of as straight away Lewis was over half a second faster than his more experienced team mate, with only minor adjustments needed during the day

Qualifying
Lewis was eager to get going and was one of the first on track and to everyone’s surprise posted a 6th fastest time overall by around lap 5 unfortunately one lap later Lewis had huge moment throwing him clean out of the seat fortunately he managed to save it and pulled into the pits complaining of no front end feel at all, this was put down to a new tyre and adjustments were made but not in time for Lewis to get back into a rhythm and he ended up 12th overall and in font of his team mate
Race 1
Oh dear not a good start in fact a terrible start and Lewis went backwards into the slower riders and spent the race fighting his way past them to finish a creditable 17th overall and 7th in class.
Race 2
As per race 1 terrible start and once again Lewis spent the race getting past slower riders finishing 17th overall and 7th in class
Race 3
A better start and Lewis was in amongst the quicker riders swapping places all through the race finishing 12th overall and 5th in class
Race 4
Another good start saw Lewis up with the quicker riders and 2nd in class until on lap 4 he pulled into the marshals post at Druids hairpin with a dead engine which turned out to be an electrical fault.
Overall
This was a good start to the season with just a few things to work on before the next round at Donnington Park on 24/25th of March ,namely sorting out the starting and learning a brand new circuit

For 2011 we invested in a professional tuner to enhance the performance of the Cagiva. This really paid off, at the first meeting of 2011, Brands Hatch, Lewis qualified in second place. He continued with similar performances throughout the year.

Out of 32 races, Lewis finished on the podium 21 times! However, first place remained illusive. At Cadwell Park Lewis was a mere point one of a second from the win. In the 2011 Championship Lewis finished sixth place overall due to the point’s allocation system. Unfortunately sixth place in the season doesn’t demonstrate that Lewis was on the podium 65% of the time.

Lewis’s achievements and his consistency were recognised by Geoff Game of BCL Suzuki Racing. Lewis will be riding their Suzuki SV650 in the 2012 Thundersport Mini Twin Championship, which is a televised championship.

Lewis Black Racing would like to thank all our current sponsors who have facilitated Lewis’s achievements. We hope that Lewis will continue to have their support in 2012 for the next stage of his career. At 14 years old, we believe that Lewis will, once again, be the youngest on the grid.

THANKYOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Practice went by all day Friday without any problems, gearing was changed to suit
The new Snetterton 200 track and Lewis seemed to be enjoying himself getting
Quicker every session.
Qualifying was a different story Lewis was the first out of the pit lane and
quickly into his stride but didn’t come round for his 2nd flying lap, fearing the
worst the team collected all crash damage components together and waited for
the bike and rider to return, fortunately Lewis had not fallen of but described the
bike as just dying. The team set about the problem but the bike sparked into life
and was running perfectly, so everything was checked over and the bike
pronounced ready to race

Race 1 because Lewis had only posted one fast lap he was right down at the back of the
grid amongst the slower riders leaving himself a massive task to get to the
front, and guess what the lights went out and the BDK Cagiva leapt into life and
by the first corner Lewis was in the lead what a fantastic start ,this was short lived
as Lewis failed to come round for lap 2,again when the bike returned he said “it
just dyed” once again it fired up straight away and ran perfectly so the Cagiva was
pronounced ready to race again

Race 2 again starting from the back of the grid Lewis got a fantastic start and managed to
get up to 3rd position by the 1st corner but once again he failed to come round for
lap 2,complaining of the same problem. It was decided to take the bike to BDK
racing who offered to look at the bike “overnight” to sort the problem, at 8.30 am
Sunday morning the bike was collected and “cured “of its ills (faulty coil)

Race 3 the newly dyno tested Cagiva was ready to race and seemed to be more
responsive again Lewis got of to a fantastic start and was quickly up the front
with the leaders but after 3 laps failed to come around again thinking of the
damage all spares were brought out ready to fit but when the bike returned the
same “it just dyed” answer was given, quickly removing the tank the problem
was sorted straight away a coil wire had come of !!!!!

Race 4 down came the rain then it dried the team opted for wet front and intermediate
rear however the clouds opened whilst on the grid and it was left to Lewis to bring
the bike home in one piece which he did in a creditable 4th in class and 6th overall

Practice From the start of practice on Friday it was clear that their was a problem
with the bike, the team spent most of the day trying to figure out why the
Cagiva was difficult to start but whilst running was fine, this was evident as
once again Lewis only managing to qualify on the second row in 5th place

Race 1 Lewis got a great start and on the first corner was in with the leading bunch
however by the end of the first lap he had slipped down the field in amongst the
slower riders shaking his head every time he crossed the start line in front of the
team, fortunately another rider was disqualified for technical infringements which
gave Lewis 7th overall and 3rd in class

Race 2 After the 1st race all riders in parc ferme were dyno tested and it was immediately
clear the Cagiva was way down on power compared to the Aprilllia`s,the team
mechanic Andy Houseden and his Dad Robert Houseden spent the next hour
changing a cracked piston on the Cagiva in time to bed it in and re run on the
dyno, Lewis went out in the race with instructions to ride for points and not over
rev the engine finishing again 7th overall and 3rd in class

Race 3 With the go ahead to race the bike hard Lewis got of to a flying start and straight
into the lead, which he kept for the 1st lap, then getting involved in a fantastic 2
way dice for second leaving the following pack some 5 seconds behind until on
lap 4 neither rider came around again both falling at Maggots, fortunately both
riders were unhurt and the bikes were easily repairable

Race 4 The team had repaired the Cagiva and got it out for the last race of the weekend
but it was clear from the start the earlier crash was playing on his mind and he
rode to a creditable 6th overall and 3rd in class

Overall A good meeting with Lewis learning more about riding for points when things go
wrong, however he did manage to knock a massive 6 seconds of his qualifying
time which the team will take away as bonus

Practice With the power valve now re-fitted the bike was a little different for Lewis to ride

and it took him a good few session to get used to the new power

delivery. Although a little unsure about the new Snetterton 300 circuit Lewis

managed to qualify a very creditable 3rd overall and on the front row

Race 1 Lewis got of to a fantastic start and was mixing it with the faster riders for the

first few laps until a mistake on the new section of the track forced him wide and

he lost a lot of time but still managed to finish 3rd overall and 2nd in class

Race 2 Very similar to the first race except on the last lap the leader fell of which left

Lewis 2nd overall and 2nd in class

Race 3 A cracking start saw Lewis in the lead after the first corner but down to second by

the third another mistake in the new section of the track saw Lewis caught up in a

race long battle finally ending up 3rd overall and 2nd in class.

Race 4 Another cracking start saw Lewis right up in the front and on the tail of the leader

until once again in the new infield section of the track he ran wide and leapt over

the very high kerbing landing heavy on the front wheel and instantly puncturing

the tyre fortunately he didn’t fall of and was able to limp the bike over to the

             marshals post

Overall Major thanks go to BDK Racing at Norwich for their efforts in rebuilding

the power valve system in time for this meeting the difference in the bike

was tremendous and the Cagiva was more than a match for the Aprilias, next

meeting is Cadwell Park one of Lewis’s favourite circuits

Practice From the start of practice on Friday it was clear that Lewis wasn’t happy with

The bike firstly complaining of brake problems all morning and even missing one

Session whilst the problem was solved then the team spent the afternoon chasing

A gearing set up and finally Lewis found an issue with his new OSX leathers

which wasn’t sorted until we got home after the meeting. After all the problems

Lewis managed his worst qualifying of the season down in 5th place on the

              Second row

Race 1 Lewis got of to a fantastic start and was up to 3rd place but as the race went on he

fell back among the slower riders and finished 6th overall and 4th in class

Race 2 the team changed gearing for this race and once again Lewis got a fantastic start

and was up at the front for around 3 laps then as per race 1 he slipped back among

the slower riders finally finishing 8th overall and 4th in class

Race 3 Once again the team changed the gearing and Lewis got of to a cracking start and

as with races 1 and 2 after about 2 to 3 laps fell back among the slower riders

finally finishing 8th overall and 4th in class

Race 4 Again we changed the gearing and once again Lewis got a flying start but as the

race went on he slipped back among the slower riders, this time Lewis was lucky

as 2 riders in front broke down but the BDK prepared Cagiva kept going to a very

lucky 5th overall and 2nd in class

Overall The whole team would agree (including Lewis) that this was the worst

performance from Lewis this season he just couldn’t “click” at all with the track

this maybe had something to do with the last time he was here he ended up

unconscious in hospital very badly beaten and with a broken thumb after the

Cagiva seized at the fast Honda curve throwing him over the handle bars, but we

came away with valuable championship points to take to the next round at

             Silverstone in June

Practice Throughout practice it was clear that Lewis was up for the new season visually

the quickest on the track all day Friday, Saturday qualifying saw Lewis leap out

onto the track to get a clear run and keep out of the way of the novice and much

slower rider and at the end of the 15 minutes Lewis had qualified a fantastic2nd

 overall

Race 1 Lewis left the start line on a mission and held 2nd place for the best part of 2 laps

Finally being overtaken by a faster bike in a straight line and at the end of the

race finished a creditable 3rd in class and 4th overall lapping slower riders in 5

laps

Race 2 Another great start but this time Lewis got involved in a race long battle with 3

other riders finally finishing 4th overall and once again 3rd in class lapping slower

riders in 5 laps

Race 3 Another good start and a similar race battling race long with 4 other riders this

time finishing 5th overall and 4th in class lapping slower riders in 5 laps and

managing to lap 2 riders twice

Race 4 A terrible start saw Lewis have lonely ride after early overtaking moves which

saw him finish a creditable 5th overall and 4th in class

Overall The first meeting over and a fantastic performance from Lewis leaving a bitterly

cold Brands Hatch with 3rd overall in the championship with no problems with

the bike and finally trophies to polish

Practice Once again throughout practice Lewis was the class of the field with many

comments from other competitors about the speed of the Cagiva. This

carried on to qualifying and the Cagiva managed 3rd on the grid and most

importantly the front row for the 3rd time this season

Race 1 A fantastic start put Lewis straight into the lead which he held on and of

throughout the race battling right upto the last lap side by side and finishing

2nd overall and 2nd in class by 0.179 of a second

Race 2 Again a fantastic start and Lewis lead for around half race distance when he

made a mistake and dropped back from the leading 2 finishing 3rd overall

                    and 2nd in class

Race 3 What a disaster Lewis fell heavily in Sunday morning warm-up and

damaged the bike quite badly however the team pulled together and the bike

was re-scrutineered and pronounced ready to race. The start didn’t go to plan

and Lewis dropped to 8th place and spent the race chasing down the leading

group and finished a very creditable 3rd overall and 2nd in class

Race 4 With all problems from the earlier accident gone Lewis got of to a fantastic

Start and lead the race for around the first 4 laps then a mistake put him on

the grass and he lost time to the leaders and finished 3rd overall and 2nd in

                    class

Overall A fantastic sunny weekend both Lewis and the BDK Cagiva performed

perfectly inspite of the heavy accident every thing worked well and it will

not be long before the Cagiva and Lewis have their first overall win
